Artist and illustrator Eleanor Dobbs had a delightfully wild childhood in the Scottish Borders surrounded by a menagerie of animals that should have been domesticated but were generally pretty untethered. All that freedom to daydream helped her develop an active imagination which in time led her into the wonderful world of children’s books.
In her Iona collection Eleanor looks back to that first crossing to Iona when she was eight years old...the moment she looked over the edge of the boat, through the aquamarine water and met the wonder that you encounter when the magic of the Western Isles first seeps in to your soul.
The paintings are small reflections of Iona as a ‘thin place’. Each original ink and watercolour is utterly unique, copies aren’t made. You will be taking home a hand made treasure that is created with love and in Eleanor’s words “are an antidote to our turbulent times”.
